Compact and super lightweight crash pad perfect for young climbers

The Poco FTS is the most compact and lightweight crash pad in the Ocun range, perfect for young climbers and those who cannot carry too much weight. Despite its compact size, it features the same proven FTS (Foam Tube Suspension) technology that provides reliable impact protection.

FTS Technology (Foam Tube Suspension):

Ocun's FTS Absorption Block is a unique solution introduced in 2011 that combines suspension and absorption. The construction of the block is designed to deform the combination of foams to lessen the impact of a climber's fall. The pad is made up of three layers:

Stiff polyethylene foam upper layer (20mm PE foam): Provides initial impact protection
FTS Absorption Block 70/50mm (PE + PU): Creates suspension system that absorbs impact energy using polyethylene foam template middle layer filled with polyethylene tubes. Middle parts use 70mm thickness, side parts use 50mm.
Polyethylene foam bottom layer (15mm/30mm PE foam): Prevents deformation during higher falls and maintains pad stability. Middle parts use 15mm, side parts use 30mm for enhanced edge protection.

This construction is more efficient than traditional horizontal layer construction, and the pad remains stable over time without collapsing in the middle. The unique design of the absorption block ensures efficient absorption even at the edges of the pad enabling adjustment of the absorption effect.

Construction and Packing:

2-piece pad with two-way opening - "Two in One SIZE". YKK zippers on the long and short sides of the mattress allow both classic and long layout options for maximum versatility.

HIC (Head Injury Criterion):

Climbers use crash pads to make their landings softer and safer. Ocun measures their ability to reduce impact in accredited labs according to the UIAA standard 161. This involves dropping a 4.6 kg ball equipped with an accelerometer onto the pad from different heights, with the HIC (Head Injury Criterion) measured for each height. HIC = 400 is the critical fall height. This is the height at which the HIC value shouldn't be exceeded. Each crash pad reaches HIC = 400 for a different height, with the best performing ones allowing for higher drops.

The Poco FTS achieves HIC 400 at 2.2 m, providing excellent protection for its compact size and light weight.

Other factors, like terrain shape, pad placement, and climber skill, also affect outdoor bouldering safety.

Carrying Systems:

Available with shoulder strap carrying system. The basic carrying system features shoulder straps that are adjustable in length with aluminum buckles. The carrying system can be folded towards the pad and kept clean.
