Outdoor Research

Explore Outdoor Research clothing and gloves at Alpine Equipment Company. From packable synthetic insulation to technical alpine handwear, discover kit designed for changing conditions on the trail and in the mountains.

Outdoor Research insulated jackets

For cool starts, exposed trails and cold-weather layering, an insulated jacket is a versatile addition to your mountain kit. The Men's SuperStrand LT Hoodie uses VerticalX™ SuperStrand synthetic insulation in a lightweight, packable design. Wear it on its own when conditions allow or beneath a shell for added protection, then stow it in its own pocket when you warm up.

Technical gloves and mitts for alpine adventures

Choose hand protection to suit the temperature and demands of your route. Outdoor Research Alpinite GORE-TEX Gloves combine waterproof, windproof protection with leather palms and a low-profile undercuff design for technical alpine climbing. For colder mountaineering and expedition conditions, the Men's Alti GORE-TEX Mitts feature layered insulation and removable insulated liners.

Compare each product's materials, fit and intended use before choosing. Dexterity matters when handling equipment, while insulation and wrist coverage become especially important during cold stops and exposed ascents.

Research-led outdoor equipment

Outdoor Research grew from founder Ron Gregg's drive to solve practical equipment problems in the mountains. After a failed pair of gaiters cut short a Denali expedition in 1980, he developed the insulated X-Gaiter™. The brand was founded the following year, bringing a research-led approach to outdoor gear design.
